LEBANON - Lebanon’s Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen El Sayed, said the ministry is closely monitoring recent developments through its emergency unit, as displacement continues to rise across several areas.
In a statement posted on X, Minister El Sayed said the Ministry of Social Affairs is coordinating with the Government’s Disaster Management Unit at the Grand Serail, as well as the Ministries of Education and Interior and Municipalities.
The ministry has begun receiving and preparing designated shelter centers to ensure they are fully equipped to host displaced families.
“We are working in a spirit of one team to guarantee the continuity of services and secure the needs of affected families,” Minister El Sayed said, adding that the ministry will continue to closely monitor the situation and take necessary measures in line with developments on the ground.
In a separate statement, Minister El Sayed stressed that the Grand Serail’s official pages represent the “sole official source of information,” urging citizens and displaced persons not to be drawn into rumors and to rely exclusively on official channels for updates.
She acknowledged that large numbers of displaced people remain on the roads, noting that the ministry is fully aware of the scale of displacement and the hardship faced by families.
The Internal Security Forces, she said, are exerting maximum efforts to facilitate their movement and direct them to approved shelter centers.
Hotline numbers have been circulated, and individuals in need of shelter or assistance were urged to consult the Grand Serail’s official pages and contact the designated numbers for guidance.
According to the minister, the number of displaced people registered in shelter centers has reached 29,000 so far, as displacement continues.
