LEBANON – The Minister of Social Affairs, Hanin El Sayed, said the state is on full alert to coordinate the response, distribute aid, and ensure it reaches all displaced people fairly.
She confirmed that shelter centers in Beirut and Sidon have reached their maximum capacity and asked displaced people to move to other areas such as Mount Lebanon, the North, and Akkar.
She added that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail to coordinate the response among all ministries and administrations. The ministry also visited the South Operations Room in Sidon to follow up on the situation on the ground.
On the security level, she said that 259 hostile incidents were recorded, resulting in 40 martyrs and 246 injured.
Regarding food assistance, she stated that the food security sector has so far distributed around 23,000 hot meals, 15,000 ready-to-eat food parcels, and 30,000 cleaning kits.
She explained that distribution is ongoing based on needs and in coordination with the ministry, partners, and relevant organizations to ensure fair and organized delivery of aid to families in shelter centers.
She confirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs is managing and organizing the shelters and ensuring their readiness, in full coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Education, governors, municipalities, and the High Relief Commission.
She thanked all ministries, governors, municipalities, working teams, and the Lebanese Red Cross for their great efforts, stressing that all state institutions are on full alert and working around the clock.
She concluded by saying that the challenge is significant, but work is being carried out according to a clear plan with daily coordination to ensure a fast and organized response. She urged displaced people to follow official sources only and to contact the published hotlines if they need shelter or assistance.
She ended by saying they will continue to provide updates as developments occur, and prayed for the protection of Lebanon and its people.
