LEBANON – Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani confirmed that "the priority of the Ministry of Agriculture at this stage is to protect and save livestock, especially cows, sheep, and beehives, due to their vital role in ensuring food security and sustaining agricultural production”.

Hani noted that the ministry has put in place "an emergency mechanism to help farmers move their animals and beehives from dangerous areas to safer locations," calling on "farmers to contact the nearest regional office of the ministry for immediate assistance”.

The minister also supervised the transfer of seedlings and plants from nurseries in Tyre and the Bekaa to ensure they reach farmers in safe areas and to protect the agricultural seasons from potential further losses.

Hani emphasized that "the ministry’s teams are working like a beehive with a sense of national responsibility, to ensure the continuity of public work and protect the agricultural sector in all its plant and animal components”.

He added: "The ministry will remain alongside farmers in all regions, and preserving food security and strengthening the resilience of Lebanon’s rural areas are priorities that cannot be postponed”.
