
LEBANON - According to the Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Grand Serail, the humanitarian situation in Lebanon continues to evolve as hostilities persist across several areas.
Displacement and Shelters
• 95,773 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently staying in collective shelters.
• This represents around 21,475 displaced families.
• 441 shelters are currently open across the country.
• The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) has allocated around 900 public schools as potential collective shelters, representing 73% of all public schools.
• 325 schools are currently being used as shelters, accounting for 26% of public schools.
Hostilities
• A total of 529 hostile incidents have been recorded.
Casualties
• According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health:
o 102 people have lost their lives and 638 have been injured since the start of the hostilities.
o In the last 24 hours, 30 deaths and 201 injuries were reported.
Additional humanitarian reporting from UNICEF indicates:
• Among the victims are more than 7 children who lost their lives and over 38 who were injured.
• Since the beginning of the hostilities, an estimated 83,000 people have been displaced, including approximately 29,000 children.
Humanitarian actors warn that larger waves of displacement may occur in the coming days if hostilities continue.
