LEBANON - The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced on Tuesday a price increase for bread, raising the cost of a large bundle from 77,000 to 85,000 LBP as the retail price to consumers, and the small bundle from LBP 45,000 to LBP 50,000.
The hike in the price of a staple food comes on the eighth day of the war, with a broader rise in the cost of commonly consumed goods ranging between 11% and 48%, justified by the war. It also follows less than a month after the Lebanese government imposed new fuel taxes.
