LEBANON – The Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRM), in cooperation with international organizations, released new statistical data documenting the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation, amid UN warnings of an unprecedented shelter crisis.

Displacement and Shelters (Update: March 11–12)

Official figures released by the Disaster Risk Management Unit (as of 17:00 on March 11) show a significant increase in the number of displaced people:

• Total self-registered displaced people: The number has risen to 816,700 people.

• Displaced people in shelters: Around 125,800 people are currently staying in official shelters, representing 31,900 displaced families.

• Number of shelters: The number of open shelters has increased to 590 centers.

• Capacity crisis: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) warned that many families are now without shelter, confirming that existing shelters are 90% full.

Human Losses

Reports recorded a sharp escalation in military activities across several areas:

• Hostilities: 1,450 attacks or hostile incidents have been recorded so far.

• Casualties (within 24 hours): 64 people were killed and 142 others injured.

• Cumulative toll (according to Health Minister Rakan Nasser El-Dine): The total number of deaths has reached 634 people, including 91 children, while the number of injured has reached 1,586.

Situation of Children and International Warnings

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) continues to warn about the heavy price children are paying. Recent statistics show an increasing number of children and women among the daily casualties, while ongoing displacement waves place hundreds of thousands of children in difficult living conditions inside overcrowded shelters.

Official Guidance

Military operations remain concentrated in South Lebanon, the Bekaa region, and Beirut’s southern suburbs. Authorities have renewed their call for citizens to use the online platform (find.shelterslebanon.info) to check available shelter locations, especially as most centers are approaching their maximum capacity.
