LEBANON - To ensure uninterrupted education for students across all levels and facilitate remote learning, Lebanese telecom operators Touch and Alfa have launched free data packages dedicated to e-learning.
The initiative follows directives from Minister of Telecommunications Charbel Haj and at the request of Minister of Education and Higher Education Reema Karami.
The package provides 20 gigabytes of data for educational purposes, available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
It allows teachers and students free access to Microsoft Teams and the “Madrasti” platform, along with any other online learning tools approved by the Ministry of Education.
Alfa stated in a press release that the “Free e-Learning” package is automatically activated for all data subscribers on its network. Teachers and students using fixed or prepaid lines can benefit from the package during the designated hours.
Prepaid subscribers receive the full package for the month, while fixed-line users are allocated a proportional amount based on the remaining billing period. The package automatically renews every 30 days for prepaid lines and upon the billing cycle for fixed lines.
Users can track their data consumption by dialing 1112# and selecting the Free e-Learning option.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to remove barriers in the education sector and ensure continuity of learning, with immediate collaboration from the mobile telecommunications sector.
