LEBANON – The President of the Syndicate of Food Importers, Hani Bahsali, and the President of the Syndicate of Supermarket Owners, Dr. Nabil Fahd, jointly denied reports circulated by some media outlets claiming that certain traders and food warehouse owners were rationing distribution to prolong stock availability.

They emphasized that there is no rationing of food distribution or delivery, whether by importers or supermarkets.

They confirmed that food stocks are sufficient to meet local consumption needs for up to three months, and that food imports continue, even at a higher pace. Based on this, there is no need for any measures that would limit access to food.

They added, “As we have stated previously, as long as the Port of Beirut is functioning normally and supply chains remain open, there is no problem,” noting the surplus available in supermarkets supported by imports from suppliers.

They also revealed that traders have increased their import quantities from abroad in coordination with the Crisis Cell at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Amer Bisat, to meet the needs of the Lebanese market for longer periods.
