LEBANON – Lebanon has received, through the Port of Beirut, an urgent humanitarian aid shipment from the Arab Republic of Egypt, totaling approximately 1,000 tons.
The initiative reflects the strong solidarity between the two countries and comes in support of Lebanon amid ongoing humanitarian challenges, particularly the conditions faced by displaced and affected families.
The shipment was received at the container terminal of the Port of Beirut in the presence of Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Hanine El Sayed, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Ambassador to Lebanon Dr. Alaa Moussa, Secretary-General of the High Relief Commission Brigadier General Bassam Nabulsi, Chairman of the Temporary Committee for the Management and Investment of the Port of Beirut Marwan Nefaa, along with representatives of relevant authorities and partners, notably the CMA CGM Foundation, which transported the shipment free of charge.
This initiative falls within broader Arab humanitarian efforts supporting Lebanon and aligns with the national response plan adopted by the Lebanese government to ensure the organized and transparent distribution of aid. The plan aims to guarantee that assistance reaches the most vulnerable groups in shelters and host communities, in coordination with the High Relief Commission and relevant stakeholders.
Minister Fayez Rasamny emphasized that the initiative sends a clear message that Lebanon is not alone, noting that the shipment includes medicines and medical supplies to support the healthcare system, as well as food parcels, essential goods for shelters, logistical equipment, and hygiene supplies.
He also stressed that Lebanon is going through a critical phase requiring the highest levels of national cohesion, calling for strengthened internal solidarity to face challenges collectively.
For his part, Minister Badr Abdelatty stated that the aid comes under directives from the Egyptian leadership as part of Egypt’s continued support for Lebanon, affirming ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote regional stability.
Meanwhile, Minister Hanine El Sayed confirmed that the distribution of aid will follow the national response plan in an organized and transparent manner, ensuring rapid and fair delivery to beneficiaries in both shelters and host communities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the ministers conducted a field tour of the container terminal, where they reviewed the unloading process and the contents of the shipment.
