LEBANON – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Lebanon issued a statement extending its deepest condolences to the Lebanese government and people following the victims of recent hostilities.

The FAO Representative in Lebanon, Nora Ourabah Haddad, expressed in an official letter addressed to the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, her “deep sorrow and profound grief” over the loss of lives, considering that “this tragedy affects all of Lebanon and leaves a deep impact on the hearts of its people.”

In the same context, she emphasized the “strength of the partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture,” renewing the organization’s commitment to continue supporting the Lebanese state and its people, particularly in strengthening food security.

She confirmed that “the organization will continue implementing initiatives and projects aimed at supporting the agricultural sector in Lebanon and contributing to food stability, in line with the current challenges facing the country.”

The letter concluded by reaffirming the “constant readiness to stand by Lebanon in this critical phase,” expressing highest respect and appreciation.
