MAG Raises Awareness on Landmine Risks in Sidon

SAIDA – At the southern entrance of Sidon, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a UNICEF partner, is working on the ground to raise awareness among families returning to their homes about the risks of landmines.

Landmines are explosive devices placed in the ground that can detonate when stepped on or disturbed, often remaining dangerous long after conflicts end.

Teams are handing out leaflets and speaking directly with residents, focusing on children and caregivers to help them understand the dangers and stay safe.

Landmines remain a serious threat after conflicts, as many are left behind in areas of fighting and are not immediately cleared, and can still harm civilians, especially in affected regions.

Officials stress the importance of awareness, saying that sharing information can help prevent injuries and save lives.
