LEBANON - UNICEF, in partnership with the European Union (EU), is supporting the rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance of the Tripoli Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Lebanon, as part of efforts to improve wastewater management and protect water resources for local communities.
The initiative aims to sustain essential wastewater treatment services, reduce environmental pollution, and safeguard access to clean water for children, families, and communities across the region.
The project is implemented in coordination with Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy and Water and the North Lebanon Water Establishment, with support from the European Union.
According to UNICEF, the intervention strengthens critical public infrastructure that communities rely on daily, contributing to improved health conditions and a safer environment, particularly for children.
Officials said the partnership reflects ongoing efforts to reinforce basic services in Lebanon amid continued pressure on public infrastructure and water systems.
The initiative forms part of broader cooperation programs aimed at ensuring sustainable water management and protecting vital natural resources in North Lebanon.
