LEBANON – The Ministry of Environment has launched the “Mona Khalil Award for Environmental Commitment”, an initiative recognizing individuals and organizations whose efforts contribute to protecting Lebanon’s natural heritage and biodiversity.
The award is named after Mona Khalil, known for her longstanding commitment to the protection of sea turtles and environmental conservation. Khalil was killed by an Israeli airstrike on her home in Mansouri, South Lebanon.
According to the Ministry, the award aims to recognize individuals and organizations whose environmental commitment translates into concrete action and lasting impact, contributing to a stronger culture of environmental stewardship in Lebanon.
The initiative seeks to highlight efforts dedicated to nature conservation, biodiversity protection, and the preservation of Lebanon’s environmental heritage.
The application deadline is Monday, September 28, 2026. Applicants can access the eligibility criteria, application guidelines, and document submission requirements through the Ministry of Environment’s official announcement.
