LEBANON– Economy and Trade Minister Amer Bisat will travel to Iraq on November 8 and 9, leading a delegation of public- and private-sector representatives, to discuss ways to facilitate the entry of Lebanese products into the Iraqi market and address obstacles facing exports.
The visit is part of the Lebanese government’s efforts to boost exports and turn available trade opportunities into actual export deals, supporting Lebanese industrialists, farmers, and exporters.
The delegation is expected to discuss with Iraqi officials the reactivation of the free trade agreement signed between the two countries in 2002, arrangements for sensitive goods, and the updating of the mutual recognition agreement to facilitate the acceptance of industrial and food testing results issued by Lebanese laboratories.
Meanwhile, talks with the Syrian side are continuing to address obstacles facing the overland transit of Lebanese goods to Arab markets, as part of broader government efforts to facilitate exports and strengthen trade.
