In this interview, we hosted Wadih El Asmar, Co-Founder and President of CLDH – the Lebanese Center for Human Rights, for an in-depth discussion on the reality of prisons in Lebanon.
The conversation sheds light on detention conditions, systemic violations, overcrowding, lack of accountability, and the broader human rights challenges faced by detainees. We also explored the legal, social, and institutional gaps that continue to undermine human dignity within the prison system, as well as the urgent need for reform, oversight, and rights-based policies.
This interview is part of our ongoing effort to spotlight human rights issues in Lebanon and amplify voices working to defend dignity, justice, and the rule of law.
