The Second World Social Summit will be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 4–6, 2025. This event marks a pivotal moment in the global pursuit of inclusive and sustainable development, building on the legacy of the 1995 World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen.
The summit aims to renew international commitment to people-centered development in the face of today's complex global challenges. While there have been significant social advancements over recent decades, deep inequalities, persistent poverty, a lack of decent work, and a worsening climate crisis continue to marginalize many. The growing sense of insecurity and mistrust in institutions further emphasizes the need for a new path forward—one that is rooted in solidarity, fairness, and sustainability.
In line with the vision outlined in Our Common Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, UN Member States have called for bold action. The Doha summit will provide a platform for nations to come together to shape a socially just future. It will reaffirm the principles of the Copenhagen Declaration and address the systemic issues that require global cooperation.
This summit represents a critical opportunity to strengthen global governance and accelerate social development, ensuring a fairer and more sustainable future for both current and future generations.
