The 2025 Alternet Conference will take place from 13–16 May 2025 at CESAM, University of Aveiro in Portugal, under the theme “Achieving Transformative Change for Biodiversity.” The conference, organized by Alternet in collaboration with CESAM, addresses the urgent biodiversity crisis by promoting profound systemic, policy, behavior, and governance shifts. The event will feature discussions on biodiversity monitoring, nature-based solutions, transformative governance, citizen science, and transdisciplinary education while fostering dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
Renowned keynote speakers from leading European institutions will guide discussions on transformative biodiversity strategies. The conference will explore how to reshape relationships between society and nature through innovation, co-creation, and inclusive science-policy interfaces. Registration is now open, with discounted early bird rates available until 28 February 2025. The event is designed to support accessibility for students and lower-income participants and offers both standard and one-day registration options. No calls for abstracts are currently open, and no hybrid sessions will be held, although some content may be streamed online..
