The 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) began today in Sevilla, Spain, and will run until July 3 at the FIBES Conference Centre.

Leaders from governments, the UN, financial institutions, and civil society are meeting to find better ways to fund global development. Key topics include how to reform global finance systems and how to unlock more investment for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One focus this year is using tools like tobacco taxes to raise funds for health and development — a topic pushed forward by the recent World Conference on Tobacco Control in Dublin.
