LEBANON – Lebanon ranked 11th among 16 Arab countries in the local purchasing power index, recording 35.6 points in mid-2026, according to Numbeo data.
Kuwait topped the Arab ranking with 175.8 points, followed by Qatar with 168.1 points, Oman with 151.3 points, Bahrain with 117.3 points, and Saudi Arabia with 115.7 points. The UAE ranked sixth with 113.4 points.
Iraq ranked seventh with 57.6 points, followed by Jordan with 55.3 points, Morocco with 43.7 points, and Libya with 37.8 points, while Lebanon ranked 11th with 35.6 points.
Lebanon was followed by Algeria with 35.3 points, Tunisia with 33.6 points, Egypt with 23.9 points, and Yemen with 16.6 points. Syria ranked last with 6.4 points.
A lower purchasing power index indicates that citizens are able to afford fewer goods and services with their income after taking local price levels into account.
Lebanon's score, which remains significantly lower than those of the leading Arab countries, comes amid the continued impact of the country's years-long economic and financial crisis.
