The United Nations General Assembly has called for the “World Social Summit” in 2025, officially titled “The Second World Summit for Social Development,” through its resolutions 78/261 and 78/318. Taking place from 4–6 November in Doha, Qatar, the summit will gather Heads of State and Government to review progress, address existing gaps, and renew global commitment to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Developmentand its Programme of Action, while accelerating efforts towards achieving the 2030 Agenda.
In a time marked by growing inequalities, demographic shifts, and rapid technological and environmental change, this summit offers a critical platform for dialogue and action. Leaders from governments, international organizations, NGOs, civil society, the private sector, academia, and the UN system will come together to discuss solutions, strengthen cooperation, and advance social progress — ensuring that no one is left behind on the path to sustainable development.
