LEBANON – Minister of Social Affairs Haneen El-Sayed met with Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud, in the presence of Beirut Mayor Ibrahim Zeidan and members of the Beirut Municipal Council, to discuss ways to strengthen the social and humanitarian response in the capital, a city that is currently facing significant burdens and remains at the center of national attention.

The meeting addressed the issue of displacement and coordination between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Disaster Risk Management Unit in the Beirut Governorate, within an organized approach that preserves the dignity of displaced people and ensures a more effective response to their needs.

It was also agreed to move forward with the opening of social services centers in Beirut, in order to expand the ministry’s presence on the ground, bring services closer to citizens, and strengthen the social protection network for residents of the capital and the most vulnerable groups.
